We provided acoustic consultancy services for Rich Mix, a vibrant cultural centre in East London housing cinemas, performance spaces, galleries, and community facilities. Our involvement focused on supporting a series of internal reconfigurations, ensuring that changes to the building layout preserved the acoustic integrity required for its diverse programme of events.
As part of the project, we advised on sound insulation and room acoustics for a newly created bar area located adjacent to a sensitive performance space. Our input helped mitigate the risk of noise transfer between areas with very different acoustic requirements, enabling the venue to operate flexibly without compromising sound quality or audience experience.
We also provided design guidance during the reconfiguration of the ground floor, which included the creation of a new public entrance and an outdoor café area. We supported the client through a complex and sensitive planning process for the café’s outdoor seating, ultimately helping to secure the necessary permissions despite concerns around noise impact.
Our work ensured that the evolving design respected the acoustic needs of the venue while enhancing its functionality, accessibility, and appeal to a broader public audience.
